What is the Playoff Format?

In basic outline:

Qualifier 1: 1st place vs 2nd place — winner moves straight to final.

Eliminator: 3rd place vs 4th place — loser heads home.

Qualifier 2: loser Qualifier 1 vs winner Eliminator — winner moves to final.

And then? The big one. Finals. Winner takes all. Glory, bragging rights, memes—you name it.

The Chennai Super Kings have been to the playoffs on 12 of their 18 seasons. That’s insane. CSK have played 26 playoff matches and have won 17 of them. Call it a day for the haters this year—they are still GOATs.

The Mumbai Indians? They could be in the finals every single year without winning a playoff game and it wouldn’t change the fact that they are incredible in the finals. Out of 6 finals, 5 wins. The only loss? To CSK in 2010. That’s classic.
