Delhi Capitals (DC) played Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi during match 46 of IPL 2025 season. DC lost the toss and were put into bat, and ended their innings at 142/6 in 18.2 overs for weather reasons.
Good Start the fell away!
The innings started extremely well, Abishek Porel (opener) hit the first ball for a boundary and then went on a rampage scoring 28 out off 11 balls (6 and 4). Porel was dismissed from Josh Hazlewood on the 4th ball of the 4th over then DC collapsed.
Karun Nair came in to replace Porel but did little to alter the momentum with 4 runs before he was dismissed again by Yash Dayal. Faf du Plessis who returned to the line-up scored 22 runs off 26 balls but was dismissed by Krunal Pandya. DC ended the powerplay at 52/2 but stalled in the middle overs.
Middle Overs Pressure
KL Rahul, Captain, and on, also started to consolidate the innings but never really got it to count with 41 runs off 39 balls. He was dismissed from his maxing running ball in the second last over where again Bhuvneshwar Kumar had the wicket. Axar Patel only backed him up with 15 before Hazlewood bowled him. Ashutosh Sharma, DC sub on as an Impact Player, again could only make 2 runs before Bhuvneshwar also dismissed him.
RCB bowled well
RCB bowlers bowled pressure on every ball. Hazlewood was 2/36, his 2 wickets crucial in Porel and Axel Patel, Bhuvneshwar also bowled the excellent death over wicket taking 2 more wickets again replicating and interrupting DC Hope and Yash Dayal took 1 more in Nair.
Conclusion
The innings started well but follows suit from a good RCB disciplined bowling effort mixed with the middle period halting any millage after a pole position start. With a low score, the DC continuing playoff hope will have to depend on the their bowlers to be exceptional to defend.
