Rohit Sharma And Co Rewarded Receives Diamond-studded Rings: “It’s Time for the Next Generation to Take Over”

Virat Kohli And Team Receives Diamond-studded Rings

Last year, India beat South Africa in Barbados to win the T20 World Cup, marking their first major triumph since the 2013 Champions Trophy.

On the 1st of February, an event was organized by BCCI, the Naman Awards 2025, which was held in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The main purpose of this was to celebrate the amazing achievements in the last year of the Indian cricketers. The winning team of the T20 World Cup which was led by Captain Rohit Sharma were rewarded for their victorious performance with each member receiving a diamond-studded ring as an appreciation.

India, after an unbeaten streak that included their victory in Barbados, helped them beat South Africa, which led them to the victory. This was the country’s first major win since the ICC Champions Trophy in the year 2013.

The rings presented to them symbolized the team’s win margin in each match and represented their dominance throughout the tournament. In a video message, the BCCI proudly said, “Diamonds may be forever, but this win is immortalized in a billion hearts. These memories will “ring” loud and live with us forever.”

Nine out of the fifteen team members who played in the finals against the team from South Africa last year attended the event. Seasoned Player Virat Kohli, who scored 76 runs off 59 balls during the event and was named ‘Player Of The Match’, was not able to attend the awards ceremony because he was playing in a Ranji Trophy match in Delhi, which happened to be on the final day of that game coincidently.

During the event, Captain Rohit Sharma showed his emotions about winning the title: “Honestly, it took a while for me to realize we had won the World Cup. It wasn’t until we returned to Mumbai that we fully grasped our achievement.

Unfortunately, in Barbados, we were stuck due to a hurricane and couldn’t go out. We spent three or four days there. When you win an ICC trophy, you want to celebrate, especially when you are not in your home country. We were eager to bring it back and celebrate with the fans.”

In the final, India grabbed victory despite South Africa needing only 30 runs off as many balls at one point. At the end of the day, after the win, players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced news related to their retirements from T20Is, with Ravindra Jadeja joining them shortly after. Remembering the grateful days of his career, Kohli said, “This was my last T20 World Cup, and achieving this was our goal. It’s time for the next generation to take over.”

The Rohit Sharma also resonated the same sentiments. He also expressed all the emotions, gratefulness, and thanks before the last game of T20 in his career.

The event held a deep meaning among the members and fans representing India’s victory and emotional goodbyes from key players and is not a closing to a legendary era but a new sun of the dawn for the future of the Indian cricket industry also.
